This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall

You don't punish these guys, you embolden them to continue and continue and continue to perpetuate this b.s. and expose our children to b.s. videos like this.

You know what, I don't need FB to do anything about this anymore.  This is a record just for God to see so Max LEVCHIN will get his just desserts when time comes calling.

Re: This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall

They've got top spot for users and activity so chances that FB will do anything to piss them off: 0.000000000001%

If this was any random developer, their asses would've been canned already, but I guess the whole "we're the biggest" helps in that respect.

Re: This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall

Gotta love though how FunWall and alike get away with this crap, while any other developer that even has a slightly crass word somewhere in their application gets a relentless smackdown.

Sorta makes you wonder how much $ is changing hands under the table... it's almost like Facebook is an Indonesian company, just bribe your way past rules or something...

Re: This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall

hehe the wall's getting too fun....
My problem with whoever runs funwall is that those innapropriate images can be seen in their frontpages, and they still ignore them.  Now that tells me two things, either facebook hasn't warn them they should start monitoring stuff like this, or they did, but for some reason missed our posts saying it's STILL GOING ON....

Re: This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall

Well, senatus, you do know sex sells -- it's the #1 way to get eyes on your app fast, unfortunately since there's no way to guarantee you're not showing some hardcore porn to a bunch of giggly minors... you know.

Anyway, I figure that if FunWall/SuperWall can get away with it it won't be long before we start seeing other apps doing it too using the justification of "yeah but they can, so why can't we". Unfortunate.

Guess I'll go focus my apps on Bebo and MySpace, they at least seem to make an effort hmm

Re: This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall

funwall should enclose *all* images and videos in <fb:18-plus>
*nothing* that i see on some friends' funwalls is appropriate for (or interesting to) minors

Just out of curiosity.  All these xxx apps out there, the ones with the 18+ tag... that is like a joke, right?

I mean, any kid, with enough knowledge, can game the system.  We all know that.  Or no?

Re: This isn't Porn Part III - The Insolence of Funwall

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against selling sex, it's how I used to make a living in the 90's -- but selling sex to minors is bad. The moment someone forks over some credit card details one can be relatively sure that it ain't some pimply faced 12 year old who's looking to get off. (Unless they use daddy's credit card, in which case it's the parents that need a decent talking to).

I'm just quite surprised that FunWall is getting away with this. Even if it -is- user uploaded content, they should be screening that crap.

Apps on facebook: yes, the system can be gamed. Just change your birthdate and you're all set to see anything covered under an <fb:18-plus> tag.

On the big bad internet on the other hand it usually requires forking over some credit card details, which usually (let's say 99% of the time) means it's an adult who wants to see adult things.

Like I said in an earlier post, I'm not against selling sex, on the contrary, but selling it to minors (or heck, giving it away for free to minors) is a bad thing. Not necessarily because minors need their fragile little minds protected, but because you never know what kind of sick stuff is going to show up. (Going on thin ice here and going to claim that I don't see anything necessarily wrong with, say, a 16 year old seeing some humping going on, after all it might get them to ask questions which will lead to the usual "safe sex" talk from their parents. Or such is my hope...)

urm. sorry? you used to turn tricks in the 90s?

LOL. J/K.

I know what you're saying... and yes the point of this all is how Slide gets away with it all.

Well, I guess in a way I did tongue Nah, ran some 18+ sites, built back-end stuff for others, generally spent a lot of time and earned a good living peddling smut to adults.

Guess Slide gets away with it because they're a slippery bunch... ( see what I did there? )

But it still annoys the hell out of me that they -are- apparently getting away with it. Last time this subject came up in post sequence II  there's a distinct memory from some FB dude that they were going to take a look at it. Guess they did, liked it, and spent the rest of the day in a furious fapathon sad

have you tried uploading these screenshots to the frontpage of a public group to see if it gets banned? if it does, you can expose fb for unfair treatment
