Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

Interested in accepting payments on Facebook? Email jmorgenstern@facebook.com with the subject

"Payments on Facebook"

to become part of a beta group of developers to discuss payments on Facebook. An NDA will be required prior to any subsequent participation. You’ll be among the first informed for anything payments-related on Facebook, including opportunities to participate in any related beta launches.

Thanks!

Re: Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

Okay, my interest is piqued. I have an app that doesn't take payments since it wasn't something built into the Platform, but now that it's a possibility, I have some thoughts on how I could utilize this. Would I still be able to apply for this opportunity?

Re: Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

Facebook is taking on PayPal and authorize.net ... cool. Unless they can offer under $.05 VISA, AMEX and MasterCard transaction fees I would have little to no incentives to switch from current well established IMAs.

This fishing post is a bit silly too. It would be nice to be able to just read the terms without having to write email, wait for response and determine it sucks. (1 sec vs. 15 min). It's the web people, Details Here

Whats an NDA? I'm using Paypal at the moment, but I'd also be interested in an integrated solution.

I already have an NDA in place with Facebook. The automated response I got to my email says only people who submit the NDA by fax will get a human response about this... any chance of responding to mine please since I already have the NDA?

No response here either, although to be fair its not been very long.

We are up and online taking micro payments every day, personally I thought we would have been ideal candidates for the beta program, but lets see smile

Maybe you have to sign an NDA that says you can't say what the NDA says. Bet you didn't think of that, smartypants!

Re: Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

Hey guys, what's the status of this? I just sent an email and didn't receive an automated reply.
Just wondering whether I had missed the boat.

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

Everyone who has expressed interest in the discussion should have received some information from Jared (jmorgenstern@facebook.com) by this time. If you would still like to participate, please email jmorgenstern@facebook.com with the subject "Payments on Facebook" to receive the NDA required for participation.

Best wishes,

Re: Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

Thanks, we sent in the NDA last month and didn't hear back yet.

We have an application for groups, events and (in the near future) pages and friend lists that is very general but can be applied by the user to very specific things. Having a party or spring break trip? Selling tshirts to the attendees? Take orders in a very general way: http://apps.facebook.com/circleup/quest … c3d7a7f617 Pay for them with the Facebook payment system?

So, we'd be interested in this but we're kind of boring and practical. We just save group leaders, event hosts and page admins tons of time with much better results. (Danger, being wildly promotional here.) Our users are pretty practical and boring (they seem to substitute flinging bullpoop for regular poop), so they are a minority in the community) and so it needs to be simple. We have a concept of template CircleUps that could incorporate payments pretty easily.

CircleUps can be posted on a group wall, sent by admins via a group message or addressed by our notification scheme (which may actually notify large groups, strangely enough.)

We're in if you need guinea pigs. You should already have our nda.

Re: Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

another typical facebook move -- tell us something will happen and have poor follow up (i.e. fb:board, fbfund, fbpayments, etc.)

i filled out a survey and that's about it... no replies after that

Re: Facebook seeking developers to explore accepting payments

Thanks for everyone’s interest in payments. Since we’ve received a strong response rate so far, we’re working on reviewing all the feedback. At this point, we’re no longer looking for new developers. For those of you who have contacted us in January and haven’t heard back from us, we will follow-up with you over email.

Thanks!
