ad revenue potential - what are viable eCPMs?

Hi All,

I am working on plans to optimize ads on a few aps and need help with a revenue projections. What CPMs are possible with optimized ads in your applications? (Thanks in advance for your inputs.)

I read several posts, and see posts referencing $.15 -$.25 CPMs (which seems very low) and others talk about $100 CPMs (which seems like a miracle).

My guess is that a Low, med, High scenario looks like this.

Low - < $1.00 CPM
Med - $1.01 - $10 CPM
High - >$10 CPM

What does everyone think?

Checkout what Transworld charges...

And what PureVideo charges...

From what I've seen, Facebook app developers are getting ripped off wink

Click through rates on FB are pretty low, eCPMs will thus be quite low. Personally if you are doing over 0.50 CPM on a reasonable minimum volume of traffic (say 100k imp a day) then I think you are doing pretty well for this market.

who is talking about 100$ CPM are you kidding ?
your guess maybe true for external sites and blogs (however "high" would be around 4 - 10$)
CPM for Facebook platform applications is much lower than that

Hello Juston;

I think that you need to shift the decimal places on all of these ranges, one to the left. But the greater truth is that the numbers are far more complex than this. Each publisher has a unique traffic profile and traffic is not created equal.

So the only way that you can know your numbers is to run and test and tweak your application. Cubics is working on several metrics to allow Publishers optimize their traffic numbers. But we just got back from a trade show in San Diego and nobody is paying out $10 CPMs.

I'm on same tracks with gatesvp. 1$CPM in Facebook is high, and don't know many who are getting that much (if we count regular banners, not full page ads / CPP). Under 0.10CPM begins to be low, however some gaming apps might be happy even with 0.06-0.08CPM.

I don't know of anyone who is generating a $10 eCPM at any volume.  On the web at large even the most highly respected brands have a hard time demanding advertising at that rate.
